We are told that almost 1,200 signatures are now on the Downing Street on-line petition about the future of Cheshire. We published the address a few weeks ago but are repeating it in case you missed the story.

If you are opposed to the abolition of Cheshire County Council and its replacement by two unitary authorities, just follow the link The website link that was here no longer works

A few people have commented that their signature doesn't seem to be on the Downing Street petition despite having signed up, so if you have tried and failed, have another go so your voice is heard. Once you have signed up, you are supposed to receive an email and you then confirm you have signed.

Maybe some people's spam filters are preventing these emails getting through, but there is clearly a weakness in the system. You can check on the Downing Street site the names of all the people who have signed up. Scroll down to the bottom of the list, which initially gives the last 500 names to have signed, and click on 'all signatories' to bring up the full list. You can then see if your name appears before trying a second time.
