We announced the result in the Cheshire East election for Audlem ward on Friday as the result came out with Rachel Bailey re-elected.

The overall result for Cheshire East was:

  • Conservative: 53 seats
  • Labour: 15
  • Other: 12
  • Liberal Democrat: 2
  • Green: 0
  • UKIP: 0

The Other group includes 2 Nantwich First councillors and 1 Independent. The remainder are largely 'First' candidates or 'Ratepayers' from other areas of the Borough.

There was a gain of two seats by the Conservative Party.

Labour took control of Cheshire West and Chester Council from the Conservatives after a recount in the final ward.

The Conservatives and Labour were level on 36 seats while a recount was held in Chester's two-seat Newton ward. The final result was Labour 36 seats, Conservatives 34 and 1 Other.
