Cheshire Highways is considering a raft of traffic-calming measures for Audlem, including road resurfacing, erasing white lines, creating 'pinch points' and imposing new parking restrictions.
Councillor Mike Hill, who holds the Highways and Transport brief for Audlem, told a meeting of the Parish Council that highways experts are considering a number of options to improve both safety and traffic flows in the village.
"We have had a meeting with Highways in Crewe and they are looking to go ahead with a number of traffic schemes for Audlem," he said.
Among measures currently being considered are:
Cllr Hill told the meeting: "All these things are being considered and there is a possibility they could all be rolled into a single scheme."
Councillors were reminded that not all, or indeed any, of the schemes would be completed in the near future just as previous schemes had failed to materialize.
"But they are back on the worksheet for consideration and they are being considered for costing," added Cllr Hill.
