On Wednesday 4 May the annual AGM of Audlem Charity Shop was held in The Bridge Inn after a break of 2 years due to the pandemic. This was very well attended by volunteers past and present.

The new committee was voted on and Chair, Helen Beardshall, gave a summary of the newly adopted opening hours and how successful this has been for the charity shop.

Helen also thanked all volunteers for their hard work, generosity and time so freely and willingly given. She also mentioned that without all the wonderful donations given by the community the shop would not have been so successful.

Thanks were also given to Kevin Mellor, who audits our accounts freely, the Audlem Mill Shop, who continue to sell books and donate all the funds raised.

The financial report was given by our treasurer Ralph Warburton. The accounts show that we are in a very healthy position, so much so that we were able to donate £37,000 to our well deserved chosen charities, as follows:

£3000 to ADCA -- Audlem and District Community Action

£1,500 to The Wheelyboat/bus

£2,500 to The Wingate Centre

£1,000 to The Wybunbury Angling Association

£27,000 to St Luke's Hospice (Cheshire)

All these charities benefit so many in the local community.

Very special mention to Ann Bowles who retired as Chair in 2020. She, with a team of volunteers raised a sum in excess of £400,000 over her tenure as Chair. Indeed, she is still raising monies via her plant sales held at Windmill Drive.

Thanks were expressed to Emma and Henry of The Bridge Inn for their hospitality and refreshments.

Helen thanked everyone for coming and the meeting closed at 2.55pm.
