Audlem Saints U9s secured a 2nd consecutive championship on Sunday with a 3-0 victory in the final game of the latest 14 game series. Needing a draw or a win to secure the title, the boys played calmly and skillfully to score a goal in each of the three periods without conceding.

Winning back to back titles is quite an achievement and the boys really have done the village proud. They have played 14 games, won 12 & lost two. In doing so they have scored 45 goals but the secret of their success lay in defence. Saints kept a clean sheet in half of the games, only conceded more than one goal on two occassions and finished the season having conceded a paltry nine goals. All the more remarkable given that the team does not have a regular goalkeeper and so the boys take turns between the sticks!

The team has now been together for two and a half years and have played in 5 league competitions. They finished mid-table in the first one but since then have been runners up twice and Champions twice. More than that though, they have developed a great sense of team spirit and camaraderie and they have represented the village with pride. They have worn a kit kindly sponsored by ASET.

Well done to all of the boys – Fergal Madden, Will Gleave, Joe Evans, Joseph Joule, Max Sanders, James Chapman, James Bloomer, Max Parry, Eddie Warrington and Isaac Anderson.
