There was a huge turn-out for the traditional and popular singing of carols around the tree in the Square last night in Audlem.

With music by the Co-operative Brass band and commentary by Bill Consterdine, the ADAS organised carol singing seemed to attract an even larger number of singers than normal, despite the bitter cold.

Father Christmas was, to the delight of all, in Audlem for the evening and distributed sweets to the many children in the Square.

The Lord Combermere distributed a warming soup and for many it was straight to the Combermere afterwards or to the Bridge Inn for free mulled wine and mince pies. Down at the Shroppie Fly, the traditional folk jamming session was underway soon after the carols finished.

Audlem Online thanks Phil Baker for this splendid photo of the carol singing which captures a fabulous community event.
