As many of you will be aware the very last Audlem Carnival Day took place in the year 2017.
The enthusiasm for the Carnival day has declined over the years – primarily as health and safety rules killed off the use of floats behind tractors, troops of Morris Dancers with their colourful paper shakers and the procession through the village led by the Carnival Queen and her attendants, etc.
Insurance costs if any offered their services for a float were prohibitive. And indeed the age of iPads and iPhone was against the old fashioned carnival day. Stalls dropped considerably and at the one in 2017 there were just 8 children watching Punch & Judy!! .
So We, the Carnival Committee – took the decision to wind up our affairs.
We have now reached agreement as to how to disburse the remaining funds and it was our intention to give all but £200 to the young within our community
As such the following payments will made this week.
Audlem Scouts, Guides, Brownies & Cubs – £200 each.
St Luke's – £200
And the balance of £155.56 To The Audlem Youth Club
