Save Audlem's Future Existence

Today, Wednesday, eight impassioned Audlem individuals, including two Audlem Parish Councillors, joined forces with other protesters from Sandbach and Holmes Chapel, to stand united in the wind outside the SKA Observatory, Jodrell Bank with banners held high, cold, but not undaunted!

As council members briskly entered the building, we engaged in meaningful conversations with some of them, discussing key agenda items and gathering insights ahead of this crucial meeting.

Inside this stunning new council chamber, an atmosphere of awe was marred by an unexpected glitch as the cutting-edge graphics technology, designed to illuminate the space with dynamic visuals, faltered, casting an unexpected veil of simplicity over the grandeur!

Once business commenced, Cheshire East listened to the question raised by the SAFE group's leader Brian Bugeja, who eloquently posed a thought-provoking question to the council. This question concerned the impact such charges would have on our small businesses, families and the overall safety and quality of life in Audlem. The question had to be submitted three days in advance so that the responding councillor, Craig Browne, could prepare his answer. Brian also requested that councillors should visit our village, but Councillor Browne would not commit to this verbally and informed us that this part of the question would be answered in writing! Discontent lingered amongst our group as we found the response to our question lacking substance, leaving us with the impression that it was merely a perfunctory formality.

However, on a more positive note, we are thrilled to have gained the support of our MP, Edward Timpson supported by Fiona Bruce, MP for Congleton, David Rutley, MP for Macclesfield, The Rt Hon Esther McVey, MP for Tatton, Dr Kieran Mullen, MP for Crewe and Nantwich, and Aphra Brandreth, Chester South & Eddisbury PPC who have sent a letter of support for our cause to Councillor Corcoran, Leader of Cheshire East Council.
