Village organisations with events planned over the next few months are keeping a wary eye on the work on the canal, which has meant part of Audlem's public car park in Cheshire Street is closed to public parking. This has had an effect on parking for the Panto and funerals, leading to increased parking on pavements in the village.

The Canal work is due to be completed within a 12 week- period, meaning it will extend to approximately the third week in April. This should not interfere with the Music Festival and Carnival events from 25th to May 28th. However, with projects always capable of over-running, organisers say they will be checking on progress.
