Calling all budding photographers, because it’s time to put your skills to the test in a competition that aims to find the best bits of Cheshire East.

It's also an opportunity to see the Audlem area featured in an important document that is being planned. We've seen a selection of the photos submitted so far and know that many of the photographers that send shots to Audlem Online could easily succeed in this competition.

Cheshire East say: "Snap-happy entrants can submit up to two photographs across six inspirational categories:-

  • Art and architecture

  • People and places (please don’t include faces if you don’t have permission)

  • Hidden gems

  • A taste of (restaurants, bars, cafes, culture)

  • My Cheshire East

  • Walkabout

The deadline for entries is September 30th 2011 and the winner will be announced in October 2011.

There will be two age categories: under 18s, and 18 and over (entrants under 12 must have the permission of parents). Prizes include a spa-day for two adults (sponsored by The Mere Golf Resort and Spa), photography equipment and vouchers to local attractions.

Judges will be looking for creativity, composition, originality, visual beauty and relevance. Photographs must have a minimum file size of 500KB and a maximum of 3MB.

Councillor David Brown, said: “We want to see what you like about your town, village or local area and if you think you’ve got that perfect shot in mind, then send it in to us.”

“Your winning photos will play a very important part in helping us attract visitors to the area by appearing on a website.” (www.cheshiremarkettowns.co.uk)

“The winning entries will also illustrate beautifully one of the most important documents that the Council produces, called The Local Development Framework.

“This document sets out the plan for the borough over the next 20 years with the LDF Place Shaping consultation beginning in July and finishing on September 30.

Photographs can be submitted electronically by uploading them to the Cheshire East Flickr account, www.flickr.com/groups/cheshiretowns/.

The entries must include the photographer’s name, age category and contact details as well as a short description of the photograph and the location.
