Buy/Sell on AoL

Ever sinc we re-introduced the buy/sell feature on Audlem|Online at the start of July, it has been phenomenally successful – much more so than pre-COVID days.

Whether this is due to people having nothing better to do than clear out their garage, or whatever, is not clear.

However, as several chatbox contributors and "letters to the Editor" have pointed out, the list of items for sale has reached such numbers that it is very time-consuming to look through them, and then in some cases find that the item in question has in fact already been sold.

On investigation, we found that the automatic deletion of very old buy/sell entries has not been working properly, so all the entries still on the system prior to August 10th (ie. two months ago) have now been deleted – this has reduced the numbers outstanding to more manageable proportions.

Removing entries for sold items

We again plead for people to remove items that have been sold or are no longer for sale for other reasons. We know the procedure for doing this is not ideal, and there seem to be cases where the deletion has been done but the item still seems to appear (although it has in fact been deleted, and does not reappear the next day).

So we would ask you if in any doubt, please notify us of sold items through the "contact us" mechanism – when you do this PLEASE include the date the item was placed on buy/sell (which appears on the entry) so that we can find it easily in the list.
