This year is the hundredth anniversary of the start of the Great War. All over Britain towns and parishes are holding services of remembrance to commemorate the men and women of all nationalities who died.

The parish of Dodcott-cum-Wilkesley will be holding a memorial service at St Mary's and St Michael's Church at Burleydam on Sunday 31st August. The service will begin at 11:00am and all are welcome.

After the service we shall be serving light refreshments and hope to have a display of memorabilia from the period.

If you have any memorabilia that you would like to share, or family memories of the period please email ian@manor-farm.org

Some of you may have noticed that the names on the Roll of Remembrance on the war memorial in the churchyard are fading after 100 years. We have applied for a grant from the Cheshire East Community Fund to have the names re-cut, so they will be readable for at least another 100 years.
