Bunch of losers make the top

A new glass table top for the Committee Room table in the Public Hall has been paid for from the weekly fees paid by Audlem slimmers who have called themselves a 'Bunch of Losers'. Olive Stretch has had the glass cut to size beautifully to protect the table which was originally provided, with a set of chairs, by Olive and husband Geoff.

This is not the first time the slimmers have helped the Public Hall. Their fees also paid for recovering the Hall's snooker table. The club meets every Thursday from 6-7pm in the Public Hall.

It is a slimming club with a difference as success is often rewarded with one of Olive's homemade sponge cakes, amazing confections with lashings of cream, and said to be the best cakes this side of Jane Asher's shop in London. The calorie count of one slice is, and will remain, a state secret.
