British Game Week 23rd- 30th November

One of the first signs of winter is the opening of the game season and for the next three or four months we can enjoy some of the natural seasonal delights of our countryside. We have been to our local providers of the finest game you can find and will have a wide variety of game available over this period:

Venison from Buildwas Estate near Ironbridge

The venison is fallow deer -- a beautifully sweet meat with a subtle game flavour. A haunch of venison is a great Sunday lunch with some delicious port jelly and all the trimmings. Or a quick & simple supper is a Venison loin medallion, pan fried for 4-6 mins makes a luxurious evening meal without breaking the bank.

Pheasant from a local estate

We were delighted to introduce Norman Huntbach's "Pleasant Pheasant" sausages earlier in the month, these have been selling out faster than our game supplier can restock supplies, but hopefully now we are able to keep up with demand and they will be on the counter more often. A whole pheasant is significantly smaller than a chicken and for those with smaller appetites or those who do not like having left overs, these are an ideal alternative for roasting. A pheasant will take approximately 35 minutes to cook and makes a hearty meal for two or a nice family meal for 4. At only £5.95 each these are an economical choice- £1.49 per person.

Partridge from a local estate

We hope to have some partridge in very soon and we can supply wild rabbits & wood pigeon to order.
