Audlem's toilets, currently being refurbished, have been brightened up with a series of designs by Audlem artist Jo Halden.

The illustrations featuring local scenes were produced originally for the current Audlem tea towel which has sold in good numbers and is available in village shops.

The toilets previously had boring black boarded up windows but it was felt the appearance would be greatly enhanced with colourful illustrations and Jo gave permission for her designs to be used in this village project.

The signs with Jo's designs were produced and installed by Crewe-based The Sign Studio.

The five panels all include Jo's take on local scenes such as the canal, St James' church, Holmes Bank and the local countryside.

The refurbishment of the toilets is now well advanced with the  plumbing and whiteware installed and the cubicles now in place in a pleasant shade of powder blue.
