Edgbaston or the Gorse Croft. England or Audlem. Whichever way you look at it, no play was possible because of rain and a waterlogged pitch last Saturday. Audlem 1st XI's home game with Styal was called off without a ball being bowled. Unlike a test match, in the Cheshire Cricket Alliance it's not a five-day match, so if you can't play on Saturday, that's it.

Added to the misery of not playing and only gaining 5 points, the two teams that are ahead of Audlem in the Division 2 promotion race both scored the maximum 25 points for a win. As a result of not playing for two weeks running and both rivals gaining maximum points both times, the 1st XI's chance of promotion has diminished significantly. However, they remain comfortably in third place, 38 points behind Haslington and Frodsham.

The 2nd XI did play, travelling to Holmes Chapel. Unfortunately, they were well beaten, being dismissed for just 66 on a rain-affected wicket. However, Chapel did lose 5 wickets in the chase. Chapel gained 25 points and Audlem 3. As a result, Audlem slip one place to fourth in Division 5.

Next Saturday the 1st XI travel to Holmes Chapel, whilst the 2nd XI entertain Kerridge. Both games start at 2 pm.
