Unfortunately, both of Audlem's cricket teams lost heavily in rain-affected games against Disley.

Playing at home the 1st XI batted first and were soon in trouble with both openers back in the clubhouse with the score at 13. Accurate bowling by in-form Disley restricted the run rate, but steady knocks by Dave Parry (28), Chris Shenton (22) and a late flourish by Simon Banks (36 not out) took the score to 119 for 6 after 41 overs,

Disley's openers both had scores in the 40s as they comfortably won the game by 9 wickets. Dave Parry (1 for 16) took the only wicket for Audlem.

The long trek to Disley by the 2nd XI proved to be equally fruitless. Disley batted first and scored 183 for 5. Steve Lawson (2 for 21) and Norman Hindle (2 for 24) were the chief wicket takers.

In reply, Audlem were all out for 82, with George Gay and Lawson both scoring 21.

Next Saturday both teams play Frodsham, with the 2nds at home whilst the 1sts travel for the reverse fixture. Let's hope for better results. Also the Sunday XI games get underway with a home fixture against Coton Hall. Why not get up to the Gorsecroft and enjoy watching a game whilst having a leisurely drink?
