The Audlem Special Events Team (ASET) report: "The Annual ASET Bonfire & Firework Display took place last night and we welcomed over 2000, including a magnificient number of young children, to what was a wonderfully well organised night of fun. The Bonfire took three hours to build with many from the village turning up to help the ASET team pile it high.

"On the night – and to the delight of the massed spectators – the fire was lit electronically on the count down by Ralph Warburton of the ASET team. The fire was intense and lasted just over 30 minutes in a controlled and safe burn. The Guy Fawkes – built by Josh Haines – was soon gone and then the fireworks went off exactly to time on the countdown of all assembled there.

"The crowds enjoyed everything there was on offer and the Fair Ground, Hog Roast and other stalls enjoyed good business. No accidents were reported and hardly any litter was seen. The pubs enjoyed massive trade and the chippy had a great night. All in all, a very happy succesful village affair and very satisfying for the whole ASET team. Our sincere thanks to all who helped – both before and during the night. It is truly lovely to live in such a superb community."
