A body found in woods near Audlem is believed to be that of missing man Jez Cox. Officers discovered the body in the Coole Lane area around 3.00pm on Sunday, following an extensive search in and around the Nantwich area.

The missing Nantwich man Jez Cox has been formally identified. Mr Cox, 49, was reported missing by family on March 6th.

It is understood that police helicopters had been used in the search but the body may have been in the woods for a number of days before discovery.

Mr Cox was last seen at an address on Park Road, Nantwich, on March 1st. He had been temporarily staying at the property, which is owned by a friend.

His disappearance prompted a major search, which included door to door enquiries, police helicopter, and a search of and around Nantwich Lake and the Shrewbridge Road area near the River Weaver.

A spokeswoman for Cheshire Police said: "The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
