Blood test services in Audlem

The Audlem Surgery is now able to host a blood clinic covering warfarin and other blood test services.

Warfarin levels can be tested by a simple finger prick with instant results and prescription levels for the patient. The warfarin service is provided by a nurse from Nantwich working with the Leighton clinic and other blood test services are provided by the phlebotomy unit at Leighton.

With five minute appointments over two mornings a week, about 100 Audlem patients a week benefit from the new services.

As well as providing a less invasive and faster service for patients, the change will enable the Care Assistants at the Medical Practice to provide other services.

This is a win-win result has been achieved by the pressure from our local Practice finally persuading the local Care Commissioners.
