"I was lucky enough to see Gowan in the Bridge last night giving a taster of their music. If you're around Friday night you really need to go and see these guys – absolutely brilliant, and I have lent them my guitar for the week, so go and listen to my guitar sounding good for a change."

Reuben Palin posted this comment on the Audlem Online Chatbox a couple of days ago – and Reuben knows his music! It does sound as if there's a fantastic evening coming up on Friday at the Bridge Inn.

Gowan is playing at the pub and is made up of two guys from Canada who have a very impressive CV. They're also very big in America and, as we reported on Tuesday, they have performed at a Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones Anniversary party. They have also been booked to perform for the Beckhams – yes, the David and Victoria ones!

So, pub goers In Audlem could be in for a treat on Friday (31st July). Gowan is performing a Michael Jackson tribute night with a medley of his hits and they will also be performing other Rock/Pop numbers. It all kicks off at 9.00pm.

Terrance Gowan is a songwriter and producer, who has worked with the likes of Celine Dion and musical director Leonard Cohen and many more. He's also an extremely talented multi-instrument artist.

The other half of the group is Derek Downham, also a songwriter and producer who has worked with Leonard Cohen and others including Supertramp, rock band Rush and Serena Ryder.

To give you an idea of their status, Gowan achieved best independent band in Canada in 2002. Bridge landlord Nigel Walker is clearly eager for a great night in his pub. He says: "Derek Dowham treated a handful of Bridge customers to a few acoustic hits in a spontaneous session on Monday night which left us all gobsmacked. Bring on Friday."

Quiz NightsAnd don't forget the Bridge Inn also hosts a Thursday night Quiz with questions by Ralph Warburton and Mike Haines. There's lots of prizes and the quiz starts at 9.00pm – every Thursday.
