It is a very special day at Audlem's chemists shop in Cheshire Street, especially for one popular member of staff.

On 3rd September 1962, aged fifteen, Maureen Walley, then Maureen Ryder, started what has turned out to be fifty years of employment at the chemists shop.

Over the years, Maureen has worked with Derek Smith (pictured with Maureen) and later with John Wilkinson in the days when the pharmacy was called Smith & Wilkinson.

Three years ago, the shop was taken over by Boots and Maureen still works there providing a valuable, knowledgeable and friendly service to the shop's many customers.

Our thanks to Maureen's husband Fred who has quietly passed the photos to Audlem Online so that a very special anniversary can be recognised publicly.

Our very best wishes, Maureen, on an amazing fifty years of service. We are sure there will be many other congratulations from colleagues and customers today and over the coming weeks.
