An AudlemOnline reader has warned of an attempted scam he recently received.
This purported to come from BT and included a request to "review Account information". The message of course was not from BT at all, but from a scammer trying to get hold of this information.
You should NEVER respond to this kind of unsolicited e-mail without verifying its authenticity by contacting the source of the e-mail (i.e. BT in this case) to check it.
The actual text of the e-mail, which was convincingly set out to look as if came from BT was
Your monthly payment was recently declined. The decline could be due to insufficient funds, card expired, etc.
Since you haven't provided us new billing information yet, we thought we'd remind you to please provide us with updated billing information to avoid any billing problems with your account.
Review account information
This last link takes you to a page requesting your details, which is in fact a page produced by the scammer, who extracts the details (usually basnk accounts etc) from the information you fill in.
