To answer Billy Gibbons' query about who cast the bells and wanting more information, our thanks to Derek Mckelvey for the following information:
The six bells were cast by Abel Rudhall of Gloucester probably in situ with the following inscriptions:-
- When you me ring Ile sweetly sing AR 1736
- Peace and good neighbourhood. AR 1736
- Prosperity to this Parish AR1736
- May the Church of England forever flourish AR 1736
- I to church the living call and to the grave do summon all 1736
- The work of Abel Rudhall of Gloucester cast us all 1736
They should be ringing out today. After all, it's Christmas! Which means it's the one day off of the year for Derek, Judy and the team at Williams' newsagents. Enjoy your break.
