Nigel and Bridie at the Bridge are very upbeat about the Beer Festival. "We were staggered by the turnout we experienced at the Music Festival and want to build on what we learned then by offering our guests at the Beer Festival two great days of food and entertainment to complement an awesome range of beers all begging to be sampled!"

"We are definitely having the ever popular Bridge B-B-Q (sorry Tony, you are back on the Grill) and we are pleased to announce that Megan Lee will be singing to our guests from the patio."

Further plans are still shrouded in mystery with Bridie adding: "Pork Pies and Beer are a marriage made in heaven so we will have to offer those, and our meat supplier also wants to come down with a demonstration stand offering free samples – so watch this space!"

The Audlem Beer Festival is on Sunday August 29th and Bank Holiday 30th August at the village's three pubs with thirty cask ales as well as a wide range of ciders on offer.

Camping facilities are available for this new event in the Audlem calendar just a short walk away from all three village pubs. Please call to book on 07929 895749 or email at davidjoynson@btinternet.com">davidjoynson@btinternet.com

There will be a small charge to cover the cost of providing toilet facilities.

Festival Ales & Ciders at the Bridge Inn

Black Sheep Brewery
Black Sheep
4.4% ABV
It is brewed with many generous handfuls of choice Golding hops giving a bittersweet malty taste, followed by Black Sheep' characteristic long, dry and bitter finish.

Marstons
Pedigree
4.5% ABV
Natural Burton spring water and traditional varieties of barley and hops (Maris Otter Barley, Fuggles and Goldings hops), rather than less expensive, commercially grown, modern hybrids. Unique in this world, it is still brewed in the oak casks of the Burton Union to preserve its unique character, consistent quality and taste.

Marstons
Burton Bitter
3.6%ABV
It is crafted using only the finest, barley, hops, yeast and famous Burton spring water to deliver an exceptionally clean tasting beer combining malty biscuity flavours with a delicate hop character and finish.

Marstons
Old Empire
5.7%ABV
It was a 3 month journey from Burton to Bombay. Old Empire is brewed using optic malt, a subtle and paler grain that will allow other flavours to come through on the palate. Goldings and Fuggle Hops are added to this brew, which is then late hopped with the American Cascade variety for extra hop strength.

Brakspear
Oxford Gold
4.0%ABV
Brakspear Oxford Gold is a remarkably zesty brew, with fresh, citrussy aromas and a firm, fruity flavour. Pale ale malts provide the beer with its gold-gilt shimmer, spruced by a hatful of crystal malts to give body, texture and a delicate honey'd wrap.

Jennings
Bitter
3.6%ABV
A distinctively darker bitter brewed with malt made from Maris Otter barley and the careful addition of Amber malt, to give a nutty flavour that supports a subtle blend of English aromatic hops.

Wychwood
Hobgoblin
4.5%ABV
'Traditionally crafted legendary ruby beer', and legendary it deserves to be. Ruby red when poured, it's a rich, complex taste – chocolate to begin with, slightly nutty, malty, and a slightly bitter finish with hints of citrus.

Ringwood
Fourtyniner
4.9%ABV
The name is taken from the beer's strength at 4.9% but also evokes its golden colour. Ringwood has been brewing Fortyniner since 1978 and is our second most popular beer. It is a golden full-bodied malty beer with a deep bitter-sweet finish. Brewed with floor-malted Maris Otter barley, Goldings, Progress, Fuggles and Challenger hops.

Ringwood
Showman's Tipple
3.8%ABV
Originally brewed for the hardworking showmen at the New Forest Show, this is a refreshing bitter to slake the heartiest of thirst's. Brewed with the finest English Malt and Hops.

Thatchers
Traditional Cider
6.0%ABV
Based on an original 1904 recipe, Thatchers Traditional is a hazy, unfiltered and uncarbonated cider, but has a natural, subtle sparkle.
Produced from a blend of English, home-grown bittersweet apples, it will appeal to those who enjoy real Somerset cider at its very best.

Tomorrow, we turn to the Shroppie Fly
