Work has taken place at the base of the Copper Beech tree next to the Muller development and fresh soil added where concrete was once in place. Since then, at 6.30pm, two men were seen measuring out the surrounding wall at the tree base. But one must wonder why any work was going on at 6.30 at night under the cover of darkness. ADAS suggest that vigilance is still needed. Why, it is reasonable to ask, is so much work going on around a tree that a professional arborist has confirmed is in perfect health? Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council have confirmed the tree can only be treated if it is for the benefit of the tree or passers-by – and not for sake of any nearby building.
