A couple of days ago, we published Ralph Warburton's description of the frustration and costs involved in booking Audlem's very own playing field for the village's very own Carnival.
The Carnival has been running since 1812 but it is only in the past two years that Cheshire East Council introduced charges and deposits against damage for using Audlem's playing field for village events.
Ralph was delighted to receive the following email after the story was published:
"I'm sorry to hear about the very poor response you had from Cheshire East regarding the required payments for the use of the playing field. Rather pathetic considering the amount of visitors that are generated for the county by the village and its activities.
"If you will permit me, I would like to give £40 for the use of the field and I will leave it at my 2nd home (The Lord C) for you to pick up. I can't help you to fill in the forms!"
It was signed John (we won't give the surname at this stage as John may not want his full name published.
Ralph said" "What an amazing community we have here."
