The main band for next Saturday's Proms on the Park event in Audlem is the Band of the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment. They also performed last year and provided superb entertainment including a dramatic demonstration of precision drumming.

The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment was formed in July 2006 when The King's Own Royal Border Regiment; The King's Regiment and The Queen's Lancashire Regiment, together with their respective companies of the Lancastrian and Cumbrian Volunteers and the King's and Cheshire Regiment merged.

The Regiment's band consists of thirty five musicians including a Director of Music, Captain P G Smith. Its primary role is to provide musical support for the army and to carry out musical and ceremonial duties in NW England. For concerts like the Audlem Proms on the Park the band wears Scarlet tunic with white belt, No. 1 dress trousers (Navy blue with a red stripe) and a ceremonial helmet.

They will be joined in Audlem by the band of the Lancashire Artillery Volunteers and the sight and sound they create is superb. If you haven't been to the Audlem Proms before, rest assured the music is of the highest possible quality.

While you wine and dine at the Proms, the musical entertainment will be by the Cheshire Community School of Samba and the Cheshire Constabulary Band before the army bands take to the giant stage for the Proms concert.
