Axe hanging over Buerton school today

A recommendation to allow formal consultation on the possible closure of Buerton school in the summer of 2007 was made at a meeting of Cheshire County Council's school planning select panel last week. This guidance is now to be considered by a meeting of the Executive at County Hall in Chester today.

The closure threat results from the County Council's Transforming Learning Communities programme. The closure threat is being resisted strongly by Buerton parents and residents who have fought off a previous threat to close the school.
