The Audlem Wildlife and Ecology Group (AWEG) has for the first time in 2018 started to draw up a programme of events for the year ahead.

As well as our usual meetings and visits we have also arranged for several outside speakers to address us, starting with Dr Peter Floyd tonight (Tuesday) at 7.00 pm in The Bridge, who will give a presentation to the group on the Geology of Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Cheshire.

Other highlights throughout the year include Stephen Lewis, the warden of Prees Heath Common, giving a talk on the restoration of Prees Heath Common and the Silver-Studded Blue Butterfly, which will be followed up by a field trip to the Common in July.
In June we have a trip to Whixall Moss, led by local expert Barry Probin, and as a follow up to this he will give a talk to us in September entitled "The Mosses, from the Ice Age to the present day".

Various other meetings and visits are planned throughout the year and the full programme of events and meetings (which are usually held in The Bridge Inn at 7.00 pm) can be seen on the Audlem Wildlife and Ecology page on Audlem Online.

AWEG comprises of a group of local people who are generally just enthusiastic amateurs and anyone with similar interests will be warmly welcome to the group.
