Leroy Rogerson, who was based at Audlem Fire Station for some years, has been awarded an Outstanding Achievement Award, by Dr Anthony Marsh the Chief Executive Officer of West Midlands Ambulance Service, at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull West Midlands.

The award was for his continued commitment of working beyond the call of duty and his job role as advanced paramedic inter hospital liaison officer at University Hospital of North Midlands.

He is a fully qualified paramedic, with advanced skills for West Midlands Ambulance Service at Royal Stoke University Hospital. He also served 12 years as on call reserve fire-fighter for Cheshire Fire and Rescue service.

His post and is a completely innovative post that no other Trust has. It is part of the Senior Nursing Team and includes: pre-assessment sign posting, RATT (Rapidassessment treatment team) clinical skills at the front door, on call for local emergency's and always working beyond the call of duty.

The role of the IHLO is to co-ordinate ambulance crews, signpost, assess, take bloods, investigate and treat patients on arrival to the department and refer and direct to emergency portals.
