Audlem band the Duffey Boys are ready to impress music fans at this weekend's Jazz & Blues Festival in Nantwich. Pete Marshall and Eoin Haughey, both singers and songwriters, play driving acoustic guitars with hard electric overtones, soulful rhythms and heart-felt lyrics.

They first started playing guitar together about 10 years ago. Acoustic folk and folk-rock covers soon gave way to writing original songs with influences as diverse as Van Morrison, Elvis Costello, Bob Marley, Neil Young, Paul Weller and Bob Dylan.

A lot of jamming around was followed by various experimental band line-ups involving musicians from many different parts of the country. This eventually led to the Duffey Boys being created at the beginning of 2004. Last year, as well as appearances at the Shroppie Fly and other nearby pubs, they had a regular spot at 'Claptons' music bar in North Wales and were at The Nantwich Jazz & Blues festival and in Blues Alley at The Audlem Festival.

The band format now plays a key part in the Duffey Boys sound. Eoin and Pete were joined on drums by George Marshall and on bass by Jack Marshall (guitarist, singer and song writer with Audlem's own young punk legends 'The Defense'). The end musical result is hard to define but think The Jam meets Buffalo Springfield taking in Bob Marley and Bob Dylan in the way!

75 per cent of the material is written by The Duffey Boys and the idea is not to sit and listen but to stand up and rock your socks off! Now you can hear them at the Nantwich Jazz & Blues Festival on Easter Sunday at Nakatcha in Welsh Row (formerly The Three Pidgeons) from 3pm to 5pm.
