Despite the miserable weather and the recently repaired boiler, the audience in St. James' Church gave the choir and the Hankelow Flute Trio a very warm welcome on Saturday evening.

The Hankelow Flute Trio, Barbara Whitehead, Ali Muspratt and Hilary Howell played 4 different members of the flute family – piccolo, concert, alto and bass flutes. They started with three movements from Handel's Fireworks, Devienne Variations, a selection of folk songs and finished with a foot stamping rendition of the Sailors Horn Pipe.

Audlem Voices, with their musical director Jenny Collis-Smith and pianist Naomi Newman, chose a mixed repertoire of classical music, modern American songs and songs from musicals including a compilation by Rodgers and Hammerstein. In the final set they sang Christmas Carols and jazz and samba arrangements of Carol of the Bells and Jingle Bells. Members of the audience were invited to join the choir to sing the Hallelujah Chorus by Handel before finishing with a
swing version of We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to rehearsing for our next concert in the spring.
