Audlem Voices Unbowed- Spring Concert Update

Obstacles and bad days are gifts that helps us obtain perception about our courage, strength and wisdom in handling challenging issues.

Our village has suffered two major blows over the last two weeks with Audlem Voices Choir losing their accompanist at a critical stage and the sad demise of our Post Office.

Andrew and Lynne have been at the heart of our community for many years, not only providing a service, which for some older people is almost therapeutic and the only interaction they have, but also helping to sell our tickets thereby boosting our audience.

As an act of goodwill for all their willing assistance, Audlem Voices would like to offer Andrew and Lynne free entry to all of our future concerts.

Sometimes we have to take every challenge in our stride and walk through the gloom so that we may better live up to expectations, our greatest glory being not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.

Thus at last night's Audlem Voices rehearsal, in support of the sterling work that our Musical Director Jenny Collis-Smith undertakes, our choir rose as one, like a phoenix from the ashes, and sang like they have never sung before. It was both profoundly uplifting and moving.

As the saying goes, 'when one door closes another one opens', and stepping up to the mark are two amazingly talented accompanists – Treona Holden, who will be accompanying the choir singing Messe Sollenelle, and Stefan Andrusyschyn.

Treona is a professional accompanist who studied Music at the University of Huddersfield. Ready for a new challenge,Treona began working with Chetwynd Choral Society and the Crewe Male Voice Choir. Since then, she has worked with a number of international soloists, accompanied musical productions and opera performances, as well as performing with Audlem Voices. Treona regularly performs at Audlem's annual Music Festival.

Stefan is a truly talented musician who is visually impaired and plays all musical pieces from memory! He is a joy to watch and we are very fortunate to have engaged his talents for the evening. He has also performed with Audlem Voices on a previous occasion, and his performances are enthralling!

Stefan is also an accomplished English champion accordionist and married to the famous soprano Denise Leigh, with whom he often performs.

Please do come along and support our choir on Saturday April 23rd in St James' Church at 7.30 pm. Tickets are available from Williams and will also be sold on the door.

We look forward to welcoming you all and promise you an arousing and uplifting evening.
