Audlem Voices are a village treasure who realise that they need to spread their 'honed to perfection' expertise to other areas of the globe, which is why they decided that St Chads Church in Wybunbury should be their next port of call.

The first step for any choir director is to establish whether you really want to take the choir on tour, given the problems it could create.

It is almost inevitable that the choir will want to go, quite frankly they'll go anywhere if it's free, and, once you have let the genie out of the bottle it would only be with some difficulty that you would be able to put it back in, taking into account the occasional middle age spread and regular imbibing of alcohol to gargle and improve the choir's vocal cords.

Singing in a choir is an absolutely unique experience. It is one of the most important things in the world. Where else do you have everyone doing the same thing at the same time, sometimes even on the same notes, without the use of special equipment? No video replays required here to spot any off key moments and incidentally, no one sits on the bench sulking because they haven't been picked!

Taking to the road is a big thing for Audlem Voices, requiring loyal spouses to navigate village country lanes, being redirected every 200 yards due to roadworks and roadies having to be hired mainly in the form of Jenny Collis-Smith's husband who in preparation for this rare event has been lifting weights at Audlem gym to enable easy hoisting of the choir's piano onto a trailer before simpler things like the choice of music, soloist and songs can even be discussed.

For this concert we are delighted to welcome back Jane Johnson as our soloist and our programme contains a variety of old favourites combined with some new pieces.

We know that Audlem residents are a supportive community, so please do come along to their Summer Concert at St Chad's Church, Wynbunbury this Saturday, 30th June starting at 7.00 pm.

Tickets are available at the door or from any choir member for £7.50.
