Audlem Saints has been resurrected and now has an under 8's team in the mini league at Crewe soccer centre.

Despite the extreme weather conditions yesterday morning that kept grown men off a golf course, six brave and fearless 7-year olds took to the turf for their fourth match of the season.

The weather had not broken the spirit of either Audlem Saints or their opposition, Goostrey Bombers, or their group of loyal fans and kick off took place at 10.50am.

The team:
Tyler Walters
Raif Serif
Thomas Teale
Isaac Wilding
Rohan Hesketh
Hari Sachi

Raif opened the scoring with a run from his own half past all the defenders to walk the ball into the Bombers goal. Isaac then cemented the lead to 2-0 going into a wet half time break.

The second half kicked off and both teams were struggling with driving rain. Our solid defence led by Thomas had prevented the ball getting through to our keeper, but during the second half he made two excellent saves that resulted in our first clean sheet of the season.

Hari Sachi marked his opponent magnificently all game to prevent any counter attack, and Rohan went on to unselfishly provide Isaac with two more goals during the second half and his second hat trick of the season.

End result was a 4-0 win for the Saints who I cannot applaud enough for playing in rain like yesterday and for pretending to enjoy it even if it was only for my benefit.
