David Parry reports: This was a wonderful display from the players of both teams with the match being played in a good spirit and in clear cold sunshine. The Bears only had 7 players on the day and so the final 3rd was played with 7 a side – suggested by the opposing manager and wholly endorsed by our part time managerial team and the referee.

The first 3rd was particularly encouraging with some really excellent passing and the first goal was extremely well crafted. A potentially dangerous through ball by the Bears was intercepted at the back. A deft sidestep was followed by a crisp accurate pass forwards which was very well controlled and the ball on between two defenders was just as precise. After rounding the defender a good low shot found the net. Even the subs thought it was a pretty impressive effort!!

The second goal followed swiftly again after several good pases. Whilst it owed a certain amount to luck, the close range shot resulting in what looked to all the world like pinball between the shins of the Saint and Bears' goalkeeper eventually bouncing past the keeper into the net. It was a thoroughly deserved lead we took into the second period.

Numerous further chances were created and at least one shot hit the inside of the post and miraculously stayed out with several more either being well blocked by the Bears' goalkeeper or alternatively flashing just wide.

The enjoyment of all concerned was clear to see on the boys' faces as the final whistle went.
