Audlem road system

For some considerable time now Audlem Parish Council has been pursuing a number of traffic matters in an attempt to make the centre of the village safer.

This will involve creating changes to the parking arrangements, in order to cause the traffic to move in a more controlled manner through the village centre. In essence, we are trying to make the village a safer place.

Added to this is the problem of pot holes. This is now long beyond a joke and after watching events in the village last Friday (pothole repairing) it is not going to get better, as a bad winter will blow the repairs.

It makes one wonder whether Cheshire East Council is providing what is one of our statutory rights.

Also, we have recently expected a major road improvement to Cheshire Street between the junction with Broadway and the Square, which had been agreed at the Nantwich Local Partnership Highways Committee meeting.

The improvement was to plane off and replace with a new road surface. It was listed to be completed this year and prioritised accordingly. However it has disappeared from the list without any prior consultation.

Therefore, with what seems to be very little action from Cheshire East, the Parish Council is requesting that both Cllr Rod Menlove, (Cabinet Member for Highways) and Mr Rob Welch (Head of Highways) attend the next Parish Council meeting on 3rd of September.

Also we  would like to take this opportunity to assure everyone in the village, regardless of their address, that the Parish Council represents everyone not just the centre of the village.

The Parish Council will keep you all advised as and when we receive a reply.
