Audlem Rambling Society walk Saturday 11th January 8.30 am

Our first walk of the year will be on Cannock Chase led by Kate Down, who describes it as follows:-.

We start at Birches Valley Forest Centre car park and walk across the Chase to Castle Ring and return by a different route. We will cross 2 roads in each direction and we may encounter some mountain bikes, but apart from that the route is fairly easy, mostly on good tracks, no stiles and about 1000 ft of ascent and descent spread across the walk. In total, about 9 1/2 miles -- a lesser 3 booter.

Meet at Audlem car park at 8.30 am

To get there, we usually travel to Rugeley via the A51. It is signed from there with a brown sign to the car park and can be found on Google Maps. A more detailed description will be given on the morning of the walk.

NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.

Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.

Non-members of Audlem Rambling Society (ARS) are welcome to come on a walk but are expected to join ARS and pay the membership fee after a trial walk or two.
