Audlem Rambling Society Walk

The next ARS walk led by Jean Stainthorpe is on Saturday 14th January 2023 meet Audlem Car park 8.30 am

The Cloud (Bosley Cloud) and the Macclesfield Canal from Timbersbrook

Great views over the Cheshire Plain — Distance 9 miles, ascent 1208 ft

From the car park we follow the Gritstone Trail, then the Staffordshire Way (although we are in Cheshire) climbing steadily until we rejoin the Gritstone Trail and up the edge of The Cloud to the summit. We descend via fields and tracks to the Dane Valley Way and join the Macclesfield Canal on the Cheshire Ring Canal Walk. Then back across fields to the car park.

Start: Timbersbrook Car Park, Weathercock Lane CW12 3PP, grid ref SJ 894 628.

Suggested route :- Join M6 at J16, leave at J17, A534 to Congleton, A54 to Buglawton, Middle Lane, Weathercock Lane

NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.


Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.


Non-members of Audlem Rambling Society (ARS) are welcome to come on a walk but are expected to join ARS and pay the membership fee after a trial walk or two.
