Tony Crowther is leading our next walk at Church Preen 6.5 miles on Saturday 15th November leaving Audlem Car Park at 8.30 pm.

This walk will start at Church Preen Primary School crossroads where there is free roadside parking. Grid Ref SO 556976.Church Preen is 13 miles South of Shrewsbury via A458 Bridgnorth Road to Much Wenlock, then on to B4371 towards Church Stretton.( Journey time, just over the hour)

From the school we will walk along lanes towards Kenley via New House ,Mapp and Mereoak farms before a long field walk alongside Netherwood Coppice to Broome. Turning back on a lane we then cut across farmland to High Fields and down to Spout House in Church Preen. We will then be able to visit the church and manor with its famous ancient yew tree!!!!!

Retracing our steps we then descend gradually to our start point via lanes. This walk starts at 136 metres rising slowly to 279 metres at its highest after 3 miles to give great views of the Wrekin, Wenlock Edge, Clee Hills, The Lawley and Caer Caradoc. There are approx 10 stiles, some with sheep fencing and many fields with sheep and cattle grazing so not the best for dogs.

This ramble is a two booter but can easily be extended by 2 or 4 miles to include part of Wenlock Edge if anybody wants a full day out!!!!I Expect a return to Audlem by about 4pm

NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.

Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.

Non-members of Audlem Rambling Society (ARS) are welcome to come on a walk but are expected to join ARS and pay the membership fee after a trial walk or two.
