In the Cheshire Cricket Alliance Division 3 match, Audlem 1st XI, playing at home beat Kingsley by 3 wickets in an exciting last-over finish. With both teams going for the win, the last ten overs were sportingly played in heavy rain. Batting first, Kingsley were pegged back by accurate bowling and after 18 overs had scored only 21 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. At this stage, Dave Adlard had bowled 9 overs, 7 of them being maidens, conceding only 4 runs. Kingsley eventually put bat to ball with Roy Ashley scoring 60 not out and Phil Leatherland 42, to finish on 167 for 8 off their 48 overs. Dave Parry was Audlem's top wicket taker with 4 for 33. Adlard eventually finished with a creditable 1 for 29 off 16 overs.

In reply, Audlem got off to a poor start, losing wickets regularly and with 11 overs remaining were in trouble at 96 for 6. Steve Swallow (54) and Paul Dean (32 not out) then came together needing to score at more than six and a half runs per over. They managed to keep up with the run rate and put on 53 for the seventh wicket before Swallow was caught out. Lyndon Woodcock joined Dean to continue the chase for victory and, fittingly, it was Dean who clinched victory by hitting a four off the third ball of the last over. Audlem took 20 points to move up one place to fifth in the division whilst Kingsley collected 12 points.

In Division 5, the 2nd XI game at Norbury was beaten by the weather without a ball being bowled. Both teams earned 5 points from the abandoned game.

Next Saturday the 1sts travel the short distance to play sixth-placed Sandbach whilst the 2nds are at home to Heaton Mersey Village. Both games start at 2pm.
