The Public Hall APHAx Committee are delighted to have been informed by Tina Cartlidge of CVS (Cheshire Voluntary Services) that Audlem Public Hall has passed GRIPP Assurance.

So what is this GRIPP thing?

GRIPP stands for Governance, Resources, Projects and People.

The CVS Cheshire East GRIPP Assurance process has been developed to help small and medium sized local organisations demonstrate that they are well run and have effective and efficient systems and procedures in place. Cheshire East Council have recently embedded the GRIPP Assurance process in the development of their Community Hub initiative.

APHAx is given to understand that Audlem is the first Public or Village Hall of its type in East Cheshire to be granted the GRIPP assured status.

So this status should mean that the Hall and Annexe are regarded by Cheshire East as a suitable location for any events they wish to hold in our corner of Cheshire, and it is also understood that it should entitle APHAx to the finance required to install Wi-Fi and broadband throughout the Public Hall and the new Annexe. In addition the Annexe could be promoted as a Community Hub should it be desirable in the future.

The procedure for acquiring GRIPP status has involved several visits from CVS and Cheshire East, and the preparation of some twentytwo policy documents covering everything from Mission Statement to Evacuation Procedure. A total of not far short of 20,000 words, enough for a short novel, have been written from scratch or copied with amendments from example documents. This has mainly been the work of Frank Gillies, and the rest of the APHAx Committee all hope that his bowling season won't be affected by writer's cramp as a result.
