A couple of weeks ago, AudlemOnline was alerted by Lynne Smith to an article about Audlem in the January issue of Cheshire Life. The magazine must be selling well as it has since proved difficult to acquire a copy.

Fortunately, we have been able to borrow a copy – thanks to Judy Evans of Williams' newsagents.

The splendid article by Martin Pilkington is headlined 'Award-winning Audlem' and it praises the village from the start: "Any village worried about losing its community spirit would do well to take a look at Audlem, which pretty much swept the board at Cheshire Community Action's 2015 awards."

There are extensive interviews, with photos, of Allan Brown of The Lord Combermere and member of ASET, the Audlem Special Events Team; Alan Duncan, Catherine Gresty, Geoff Stretch and Andrew Smith, also of ASET, and in Andrew's case, Postmaster and ADAS 2015 Citizen of the Year; Peter Silvester of Audlem Mill Canal Shop, organiser with his wife Chris of the Gathering of Historic Boats; Janet Maughan of Overwater Marina about the RNLI Festival held there; and members of the Audlem Festival team, Ralph Warburton, Chris Warburton, Pete Marshall, Alisdair MacKenzie.

The article describes all the major events in some detail and their importance to the village's social and business life.

Hopefully, anyone interested may still be able to find a copy that they can beg, borrow or buy.
