Celia Bloor writes about a picture that may be of interest to local collectors: "On display in Nantwich Museum is an oil pastel picture of a figure climbing the steps to the porch of Audlem church by Victor Irving. The asking price is £250."

Victor Irving paints in an expressionist manner in predominantly warm colours. He begins a painting by dabbing on abstract strokes of colour, often covering the canvas with several layers before deciding on the subject matter.

He was born in Crewe in 1947 and studied full-time at Stoke-on-Trent College of Art from 1962-1967. He is also a member of the Chartered Society of Designers, London (MCSD) and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, London (FRSA).

Victor Irving has exhibited over the years in many shows and galleries, for example in the 1980's he exhibited at three prestigious "Midland View" open exhibitions organised by the East and West Midlands Art Associations, these shows travelled around the country.

In 1985, he staged a one-man show at the Stoke-on-Trent Museum, now the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery.

He has always wanted to stage a local exhibition so the one in the Nantwich Museum showing many local buildings and events, including Audlem Church, is rather special.
