Audlem Online was launched four years ago today. Each 25th August, we have published a short update on the website's progess so, today, we keep to that tradition.

So far, we have published 3,574 news stories and have managed at least one every day. So, please keep the news coming in. It's only because Audlem has so much going on, and readers who send in news stories and comments, that we've been able to keep up this flow of news.

News ArchiveEvery one of these stories can still be read, should you be interested. Simply click on the 'News' page and in the News Archive in the centre column, click on the year and month. You can then find the headlines each day in that month. The Search facility is an alternative way to find stories.

If you have a news story, or a comment to make, please contact us at editor@audlem.org">editor@audlem.org

Readership numbers have continued to climb, particularly since the major redesign in May this year. In the early months after its launch in August 2005, we were delighted if 50 people a day clicked on to Audlem Online. The daily figure is now almost 500 with a total of 15,371 readers going on the site last month.

New featuresRecent months have seen a host of new features – the Puzzles section, now with three styles of Sudoku; a daily Slide Picture Puzzle, an on-line 'jigsaw' puzzle where you have to reassemble the Homepage photograph; and, since last week, the Mental Challenge, an endlessly refreshed mental arithmetic puzzle each time you click on.

The Galleries section has been expanded too in the past week. There's now capacity, we are told, to carry 8,388,607 pages of photos. At 18 shots per page, that's a grand total of 150,994,926 photos of Audlem and district!

There's future plans for an expansion of the Heritage section and other ideas are being developed.

Thank YouThe webteam would like to thank you for your continued interest. Also, many thanks to all our contributors for the news stories you send in and to those posting comments on the Forum and Chatbox. We hope Audlem Online will continue to provide lively reading in its fifth year.
