Just in case you thought interest in Audlem's tongue-in- cheek bid to become Welsh had totally subsided, the news is that Audlem took up a full half hour on New Zealand's national radio station earlier this week. It's good to know there's interest in the village as far away on Planet Earth as you can go.

If you want to hear the interview and have 30 minutes to spare over what's going to be a busy Audlem weekend – because it's only available on the radio station's website for a couple more days – click on to www.radionz.co.nz/national/programmes/nights/20080603 (The website link that was here no longer works) and then on the 'English or Welsh' bold title.

There was also a superb article in the Shropshire Star this week on the same theme. You can read that by clicking on www.shropshirestar.com/?s=audlem&searchsubmit=Search (The website link that was here no longer works) and click on the 'Enter the Dragon' title of the article which features many Audlem residents and businesses.
