Audlem were narrowly beaten in a close encounter with heaton mersey on saturday. Merseys' all rounder A. Navid proved to be the key man for the visitors as he was the chief wicket taker with 6 for 37 and scored a match winning 79 with the bat.

Audlems' decision to bat first on a flat track and fast outfield looked justified as prolific opener toby banfield set about the bowling racking up a quick fire 59 in only 12 overs.A large total looked to be the order of the day but the introduction of Navid to the attack slowed the rate as the wickets began to fall. audlem were dismissed for 158 in only the 36th over giving 12 unused overs to the opposition.Mersey seemed to be in trouble in the early stages as they struggled to 37 for 4. but once Navid came to the crease the complexion of the game changed hitting a succession of boundaries to take the game away from the home team.Roy Wild kept his line and length under fire to finish with figures of 5 for 60 well supported by Olly Burney with 2 for 25 as Heaton Mersey eased past the target with 8 wickets down.

Audlem gained 12 points from the encounter to keep the in the promotion hunt.
