The first of the new season of needlework and craft courses went ahead this Saturday at Audlem Mill, and it proved very successful in spite of the economic climate, and more locally, the distinct lack of trade in Audlem resulting from the two month old canal closure.

Six people came along to learn all about rag rugging from Kath Evans, who not only works at the Mill, but is also a senior journeyman in the Waterways Craft Guild, which is dedicated nationally to preserving traditional skills.

All the ladies said that they had had a great time, and had learnt a tremendous amount. Certainly, all the laughter suggested that the course was very enjoyable! Several people vowed to return for other courses, which are being held at Audlem Mill most weekends until April.

Full details of the course subjects are available from the Mill, or by ringing 811059, or from www.audlemmill.co.uk. Audlem Mill is also open to suggestions for course subjects – please ring.
