Philip Hesketh, an Audlem resident, is completing a stage of this year's Tour de France in the Alps called the Etape du Tour. This is to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign.

The route follows an exact route of one of the most grueling stages taking in three climbs and is over 105 miles. Philip has been training for this since October last year, since there is a minimum fitness level to be able to enter and also checkpoints along the route to ensure that the riders are maintaining the desired average speed of 16mph. The following is a link to the charity page, where, if you wish, you can make a donation: www.justgiving.com (The website link that was here no longer works)

The race itself is on 10th July and Philip is aiming to raise as much money as possible before then. You can either contact Philip or Julie, his wife, on 811686.
